Taquitos are adored by lovers of Mexican cuisine! Crispy, full of flavour and perfect for family gatherings or quick snacks. At Table Line we present a simple recipe that will delight your taste buds.
Ingredients:
- 450 g chicken breast (boneless and skinless)
- 1 lime (juice and grated zest for freshness)
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder (for a pleasant kick)
- 0.75 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 2 pinches of freshly ground pepper
- 0.5 red pepper (diced small)
- 100 g grated cheese (Gouda, Cheddar, Edam, etc.)
- 6 large tortillas (wheat or corn)
- Oil (for the marinade, baking or frying)
Method:
- Preparing the meat
Cut the chicken breast into thin strips and marinate with the lime zest, juice, chilli, salt, pepper and a little oil. Leave to rest for 15–20 minutes.
- Preparing the vegetables
Dice the pepper into small pieces.
- Sautéing
In a pan with a little oil, quickly sauté the marinated meat and pepper so the flavours blend.
- Filling the tortillas
Place a little of the meat mixture and grated cheese along the edge of each tortilla.
- Rolling
Carefully roll the tortillas into tight rolls and secure them with toothpicks.
- Frying or baking – the classic way:
Fry in oil until golden brown.
Healthy version: Bake in the oven at 180 °C for about 15–20 minutes.
- Serving
Serve with sour cream, nacho cheese or fresh salsa.
Tip: Taquitos can be combined with an avocado sauce or a refreshing salad
